Yes, the wheels were changed by the original owner, when the GT's came out. He had the Porsche dealer in Ogden, UT swap them out, I have the paperwork on that.

I am not sure about the intake and cam covers. The photographs don't reproduce the color very well.

The color seems to match the picture of the engine in an '88 Sales Brochure I have. It does seem to be in awfully good shape for as many
years, so it might very well be.

My first time around 928's so I'll trust you guys thoughts on things.

The coating that Porsche used on the intake and cam covers has an off white color towards a very light coffee. Yours look more silver than that, but it could be the pictures. I don't think I've ever seen the original coating in that good shape in an 87.

Nice S4...the color combo is great. Your cam & intake coating puts my 89 to shame. Did you do some cleaning up in there?

Jay -

Very nice indeed! The Marine Blue/Linen is one of the best in my opinion.
Before I bought my GT I was really tempted by an '87 S4 5 speed in the same combo.

Actually my engine compartment looks like yours.......low mileage and a pension for cleanliness does have it's advantages.

As far as cam covers/intake finish goes, I have seen many variations that all have been stock. I have seen covers that range from what Ernest is talking about to a finish almost matching the intake. My present GT covers are about right in the middle. A little more silver then most, but have seen ones that have even more in them. Intakes can vary to, again from a cream/silver colored lower gloss enamal like finish to a bright silver gloss.

Again, very nice.......

Default I haven't touched anything on the car yet...

I've got an RMB on order, along with a brake kit for all 4 wheels. Other than that I put Zaino polish on the car when I bought it. The hood insulation pad was rotten, so I've removed the old one, and have the new one here, just don't want to take the hood off to install it. Nice winter project I think

From what I understand the PO kept it in an air conditioned building in Omaha along with 12-15 other cars. I understand it spent the last 5 years in that room, being driven 300-500 miles a year. He did all belts, water pump, coolant replacement, and transmission service a few months before deciding to sell it. I am told he bought a 94 GTS but I don't know for sure.

Fortune was smiling on me when I ran across this car. I had been looking for a 928 for about a year when I spotted this one. It was on eBay about 2.5 years ago, but did not sell then. Asking price at that time was $25k.

I am still not sure about the intake coating. It has a faint "brownish" tint to it that reminds me of the Porsche factory color, but it appears to be fading, so maybe thats why it looks more silver, don't know.

I'm going to get ErnestSW to look at it and see what he thinks, I've not seen enough to know for sure.

Zaino.......a man that knows the best.....

I have used it since just about the time it came out. 2 months ago I did the full treatment from clay bar to 3 coats of Z2. The black GT is blindingly shiny now......looks better then new.....

Beautiful car!

I got the 930S wheel from 928 Spec. Best "feel good" mod I've done. There's non-Big 3 outfit that sells a similar wheel, but you have to get an adaptor so it will fit the '28.

Enjoy that car, man!

Jay,
Uh...wow! Let me be the last on the board to say that is one of the finest looking 87 s4s I've ever seen. Now I know where that NEW 5.0 32v engine ($8500) went that we were all talking about last week...its in JAY's car! Happy to see you leaving Acura and joining the Porsche crew. I was an Integra owner...red-headed step cousin of the famed NSX. I really enjoyed that car...has over 200k on it now...sold it to a graduate student. Anyway, welcome and do post more photos of your lovely 87. I like that blue / gray combo...nice!

Thumbs up

Great color choice Jay!

What a sweet looking shark... I'd have to say that yours is just a wee-bit cleaner than mine, but I'll get it there soon. For the time being cosmetics will have to wait until I find the time to get my new GTS clutch installed. The car just looks so sad sitting in my garage up on jack stands.

Anyway, I plan on stripping and redying the seats. Carpets seem to clean up pretty well. Will need to re-glue the tops of the door panels and rear glove box door. After that an RMB, a Momo Jet or Fighter steering wheel and window tinting will be on the upgrade agenda.

Regards,
Bill
