928 OEM Wheel Weight
I'm looking to upgrade my wheels and need a starting point on weight. Anyone know the weight (front and rear) for the 1987 928 S4 original wheels? Thanks.

Wheel weight and size dynamics
Jim,
I've begun checking out wheels. Maybe 928intl can sell me a wheel/tire combo? (are your prices on the website for sets of 4??)
I'm looking for the lightest 5 spoke out there. Preferably 18" (unless you convince me of the 17s) and 8 or 8.5 fronts and 9 or 10 rears. I know offset if the main issue and would take any advice you can offer on how low I can safely go in front. I don't want to screw up steeering/suspension geometry and I heard a reallly wide tire in the back combined with weissach can equal unpredictability. True?
What are your thoughts/recommendations?

Flott I doubt that bigger tires resulted in the weissach acting unpredictability, reason for belief, what size does the GTS run? it still has the axle, what size do the racers run? 335, they still have the axle and they dont pin it to lock it, they like it. I would go with 17" rims

Liz,
Good point. The GTS 255's equate to about 10 inches wide. But, is the rear axle of a GTS EXACTLY the same as an S4? I don't know the answer to that, but maybe someone else does. The GTS also used spacers which altered the geometry of the rear suspension as well (moved the midpoint of the wheel outwards) and may that, too, have affected the weissach.

as far as I am aware the Weissach axle was the same throughout all the years, but am not 100% positive, I know someone (saphriel) has 255 on the back of his and they work nice, creates abit of understeer but he only has 225 on the front so that is expected
