What is the best RMB available for an '88 S4? And why?

I've got one from 928 international and it sounds and look great. Have lost a bit of the black finish on it though, probably because of heat.

Brings up a point.......does anyone make, or is willing to make a
black RMB that does not loose its finish. I have had a stainless version in the past and it was very nice, but would like a nice black version that stayed that way.......would powder coating be the way to go? Buy an unfinished version and have it coated......pros?........cons?

Since it's so easy to take it off and refinish it I don't have any problems with that it looses it's finish.

Woudl be nice if it could be kept black though..

There is ONE RMB that looks like a pair of drain pipes. The others are IMHO the same, ie good.

All of our Black RMBs are now powder coated for a long lasting finish the earlier RMB were painted with high temp exhaust paint and can be easily touched up as needed . The 3 inch dual pipe stainless units are well.....polished stainless . We also use flat metal mounting straps with adjustment holes which helps get a proper fit .

Jim, the RMB that I got from you in august is the powder coated one?

It has lost a lof of the black finish and it looks like if it's been burned off.

I'll try and get a picture of it later today.

Jim, I took some pics of it yesterday and there really is only paint left on the tips.

I'll have to dump them from my camera.. Hopefully I'll get it done today.

Here's the pic of the burned off paint.. It was all nice and black when I put it on but after about 2500 km's (probably 500 of them over 220 km/h) there really isn't much paint left.

Anders: Don't go too wild for too long - we don't want you to blow the rod bearings on this nice car. Go fast, but stay on the safe side. Too many of the 4-valve engines died on German Autobahns lately because of that...

(I'm sure you followed the recent thread about this)

This is the "protector" in me speaking...

Well.. I do tend to lift the foot a bit when cornering over 200 km/h/5000 rpm...

I'd like to propose a new nickname for Sweanders:

WOT (wide open throttle)

Seems he thinks the throttle is an on/off switch
