Default ? 928 boats

Does anyone remember the speed boat that was featured in christophorus in the mid 80's. As I remember it had 2 twin turbo 928 motors. Wish I still had the magazine. I would pay for a copy of the article. Porsche had a picture of it being towed behind a 928. Both were gold.

Hi Jim,

I write an article about those 928 powered boats. In fact, there are two versions:
- A non-turbo for pleasure boats
- A twin turbo version for off-shore racing.

I have an article of Christophorus N° 212 (June 1988) about this.

Was this an actual Porsche product or something produced by the aftermarket?

I met one of the guys in on a 928 boat project, at a gas station in CT. I was on my way home late one evening & had a nice talk. He said they put two in a boat... all I remember, as it was ~10 yrs. ago.

This article and many more finally conviced me to believe its comming when you see it. I will download this stuff in the morning when I get to work. The wife is sick and I can't sleep. Thanks again

The ebay sale was for just the brochure. There was a tt Porsche boat for sale in the Netherlands about 2 years back. The model boats (toys) can still be bought.

The boat was called KINEO.

If anyone has any photos or brochure scans please forward them!!! Samuel, do you have the Christophorus article? Do you have more info? It's very hard to find. I do have a number of photos, but that's all. I have a photo of the non-turbo engine as well, the one posted here was turbo.

I'm glad that someone asked this question . I restore wooden Chris Crafts as a hobby. I have plans to build a 1941 19 foot Chris Craft Barrel Back. I was thinking about a light weight power plant. Here's my question... In the pictures so far I have not seen a transmission. What set up is used with this engine?

The 928 is NOT a light-weight engine! Varies by year, of course, but usually 575 - 600 pounds.

I have been in touch with the firm in the Nertherlands which has a Kinéo K27 for sale.
Two of those boats were made. The first one with two non-turbo 928 engines (I saw this one in Paris in 1999). The second one with two Mercruiser MAG 454.
The K27 was designed by F.A. (aka Butzi) Porsche), of Porsche Design.
It was first showed on Boat '93 Düsseldorf.

You can see the first K27 here.

I also have the Christophorus magazine (of course, there's a 928 CS test into ).
Send me an email( 928cs@noos.fr) if you want a scan of the article and the Kinéo Press Kit.
