Default Temp switch on AC dryer seal?

The PET doesn't show any sealing ring on the temp switch on the AC dryer.

Seems odd that it wouldn't have some sort of sealing device.

Any input?

What kind of car are you working on?

Please post the year and any critical details on the car in every thread.

----

The pressure switch and transducer on my S4, transducer effectively performing the function of a high-side temperature sensor, each have a Schraeder valve underneath, and an o-ring seal up inside to actually make the seal against the port. Pre-S4 cars may be different.

Aw heck, sorry. 78 USA. The dryer has a pressure switch with an o-ring on the side of the canister and a refrigerant temp switch on the stem.

Got the dryer from Roger and it appears identical to the removed dryer. I thought it strange there was no seal of any type on the temp switch when I removed it from the old dryer.

I'm replacing all the o-rings, expansion valve, and dryer/accumulator.

The temp sensor never goes into the refrigerant stream. It more or less just screws onto the dryer instead of into it.

That's why it doesn't have a seal, it doesn't need to seal anything.

Ah, I didn't consider that. Thanks for the clarification.

Don't tighten too much, it has a brass body that is easily sheared, as I found out...

Thanks, I just tightened it up. Fortunately I decided to forego my usual penchant for breaking things, in search of just a little more.
