Default 16v M28 engine price

What do you guys think is a fair price for a 4.7 litre K-jet engine, out of car, hasn't been running in many years. Can't be heard running. Compression etc unknown, internal condition unknown, milage unknown. All the accessories and intakes are off....

Guy wants over $4k. He said he'd heard from wreckers (breakers, dismantlers) that the engines are going for over $5k alone.

I could use a parts motor, but the last complete car I bought cost me half that!

Just out of interest, a wrecker down the road from me has a complete 32v 5 litre with all accessories that he'll let go for $1750. Was running in car a few weeks ago.

200 max. If it were running, + + + + + + + +

It just has to be considered junk, if you have no way of knowing the running status.

Fyi, I bought one from Craigslist for $225. Perfect condition.

Stuff is so cheap in the US.

Like...you guys think a 100k car is expensive ! Unfortunately in OZ we get reamed. It's not known as "Treasure Island" for nothing.

That's what happens when you get the worlds wealthiest people, all nicely isolated down the bottom of the world. It's BS.

We routinely pay double or triple what you guys pay. It's total bullsh*t. Half of that is government taxes. I get over to the states a lot and I want to cry. I'd bring back 20 container loads if I could !

E39 M5's for 15k !! *sobs*

A 928 S4 GTS was $230,000 here new, when 1 AUD bought you about 0.80 USD.

For that price it might be cheaper to buy one from 928 international and pay the shipping.

You already have 3 engines, right?

$4k for a "not running for years" is nuts. Tell him "good luck" and walk away.

Trust me, the decimal point is too far to the right with that price

Justin what type of engine are you trying to buy in terms of condition? One that requires a full reco? Or one to drop in? Two completely different prices. Have you all the good bits to put on the engine from yours as such you just need a good short motor?

I know of one excellent engine with lots of good bits in QLD but requiring a full pull down as they all do btw. Or I have one that is 2 valve CIS but 5.0 litre with all new parts. will be around 400 horsepower at the crank. That is more money. Cylinder head seen in my avatar.

I've got an 87 S4 engine for $750. About 100k miles on it. It ran before a small fire in the passenger foot well fuse box.

Its been sitting ting for about 3 years now.

Hi Madturk.

To be honest I think the best bet for me is to find something locally. If I run out of options though I will be in touch

Thank you ! Much appreciated.
