Default Space under front passenger seat for amplifier.

Hello, does anyone know the space available under the front passenger seat, because I might install an amplifier in there since I think it's too big to fit where the original was ?

The amplifier I am looking at purchasing is 2-7/16" high x 9-9/16" depth x 10-11/16" long.

Any other suggestions for placement, I don't want it to be visible and also needs to breath.

Thank you.

I think you will have issues if you have power seats, and I assume you do.

There are several options that will fit in the factory location like:

This is what I had in my 85, it worked great with my alpine deck:

Are you running a sub in the spare tire well? If so you can fit this in there with pretty much any 4 channel amp beside it:

Thank you Adam for the choices. I will keep those in mind.
I was leaning towards the Alpine I mentioned since it's at a quite reasonable price $ 140 + taxes Canadian on special.

My sub is an external 10 inch bazooka, so I guess I could always place it in the wheel well, good idea. The only part that I don't like about putting the amp in the wheel well is the length of wires required for speakers and RCA connections to the deck.

Thank you Kevin, I forgot about this model, I saw it previously.

Since the Alpine is on special, I will have to find a spot for it before purchasing, otherwise I will look at other options.
Hey Kevin, your interior is the same color as mine, cool.

OTOH if the amp is in the spare tire well, the power connection for your amp is only inches away and a lot easier to run versus running it from under the seat.

You could mount it on the CE wood panel cover. Then mount some stand offs on either side and place another piece of plywood over as a kick gaurd. You would lose about 3.5" of leg room but probably wouldn't matter unless your passengers are really tall.

Sorry, didn't realize until I re-read your post that you were referring to the Bazooka sub, not the amp. Regardless, the amp in the spare tire space would still be closer to the power than under the seat. Does the Bazooka have a built in amp? Not familiar with that unit.
I believe there are some amps as well that are 4 channels and have an output for subs as well if the Bazooka does not have its own amp built in.

Yes the bazooka has a built in 100 watts rms amp.

I mounted my amp on fuse panel cover that I had my dad duplicate (kept the original safe).

It works well and doesn't impose too much on passengers' foot room. The heat sink is a solid piece of cast metal so I don't worry about people resting their feet on it. Plus it keeps the amp out of view.

There is next to no room under the seat to put an amp that puts out more power than a head unit.

Mine is screwed to the bottom of a very custom, plywood spare tire cover. No spare tire. Direct connection to the battery. I ran the wires for the On line and subwoofer, along with rear speakers, under the consoles and carpet while replacing the carpet.

Just my opinion, but a Bazooka sub install in the rear hatch area is way too 'ricer'.

The previous owner of my GTS had one in there which I promptly removed and installed a spare tire well sub and false floor for the amps.

I got the floor with amp cutouts (fitted for other amps) from Rob Rositto (RIP Rob).

The spare tire well area has a grill section that is covered by the acoustic fabric.

I then place a hatch carpet over it all.
