Trim paint question
Several months ago I posted a thread about getting run off the road and damaging my shark. While the damage was only to the passanger side of the car...primairly the fender I am going to do a repaint on the entire car. I was able to repair the damage to the fender myself. I had a football sized dent on the fender. No wrinkleing or tears, just pushed in about 2 inches and paint damage. I jacked up the car about six inches so I could get in under the fender ( after removing the plastic shielding). I placed a length of 2x4 about 18" in lenght on the frame. After that I placed a screw type bottle jack on top of the wood directly under the dent. I extended the jack until it made contact with the underside of the dented fender. Slowly I extended the jack and the dent began pushing out. I wasnt sure if this would work, but after a few turns on the jack the dent "popped" out. It actually made a popping sound when It came out. With a little gentle hammer and dolly work I think I can get the fender loking like new again. What a relief not to have to buy one. Now for the question I had for this post. The trim around the rear hatch window has 928 stamped into it across the bottom. I am going to repaint the trim black as the po removed the black finish sometime in the past. Is the 928 stamping supposed to be the same color as the trim or is it painted or possibly small decal lettering. I think it might look good painted so it stands out. Not sure of a color, probably silver. What do ya all think.

Glad you were able to fix the fender!
In regards to the trim: Initially the whole thing was black ( believe it was anodized). But the early models had a finish that would fade or wear off pretty easily. After a while it looked silver. If you want to go with the original look, you have to make it black again. But I like JEssa's idea of masking off these numbers or polishing them - because that's the only place where it actually says "928" on the back of most 928s...!
