Can anyone tell me if it's a felt or sponge underlay that's on the back of the trunk carpet, also what thickness. Only had the car 25 years and had'nt realised there was none, although on the back of the carpet there seem's to be some signs of maybe felt on there, just one of the final details to sort now

The spare wheel plasic cover is in good condition and has a greyish foam rubber surround to it, that takes up roughly 1/2 the trunk area, but wasn't sure if the felt/sponge deadener on the back of the trunk mat filled the whole area or not ?

Only on the later models. The early ones were just a thin carpet.
