Articles and video about Frenzy 20
The Frenzy 20 event was great! Thank you, Greg. If you didn't attend or follow the dedicated thread, you can get a sense of it from these links. Thanks to all who contributed photos.
1) Shawn Stanford published an article in Flussig: http://flussigmagazine.com/11/post/2...frenzy-20.html
2) Greg had me write an article for the PCA Potomac Region's newsletter, der Voganger: http://www.928frenzy.org/articles/Frenzy20.pdf
[A few things were messed up in the published edition, so we're linking to our own PDF, corrected.]
3) I just posted a video on YouTube:
Shawn provided the go-pro footage. That's NOT me playing the horn at the beginning, but I played 2nd horn in the woodwind octet later.

Great job Curt.
Thank you so much.
This will be a very nice souvenir for everyone who attended this year.
And, it will give a very good idea to newcomers how great this event is...
Thanks again to EVERYONE involved in the organisation of Frenzy.
You do such a great job year after year.

That was awesome, Curt! Next year I'll lug my GoPro around more and get you more raw footage.

Great job, Curt! Fantastic result from a time-consuming project. Setting up the drone, effectively flying it, and then incorporating the footage into the video takes considerable time and experience, not to mention all of the other components of video production.
For those who missed this year's Frenzy, or who aren't familiar with what Frenzy is all about, your video really provides some insight.
Thanks for helping bring awareness to our Frenzy events in such a polished and entertaining way!

Thank you, J.P. and everyone else. I wish I could make more substantial contributions, like those who can actually trouble-shoot mechanical and - gasp! - electrical issues. I may need help soon in getting my car fixed: I did not quite stop in time when a fallen tree loomed into view the other night. I was returning from a rehearsal, Bob, but it was a just a bump and my horn was not damaged (unlike my Conn 8D in a high school mishap).
Rant: PCA currently prohibits the use of drones at any PCA event, without exception. I learned of this only recently, at an autocross. I thought I'd be OK if I kept 500 feet away, not over the rented parking lot, taking the word "at" literally, but no: PCA's national treasurer personally (that is, on Facebook) slapped my wrist pretty hard (he's in my chapter). I thought I might be thrown out of PCA, so I deleted the video. It would have aided the organizer's efforts to get more people into AX.
Some people have a visceral reaction to an "unmanned aerial system", as the FAA terms them. Everyone has seen lamp shades destroyed by cheap drones. There are abusers, as there is for anything (remember the uproar about cell phone cameras?). But c'mon, it's 2016. A $1300 UAS can have dual-redundant GPS and inertial measurement units, and even sophisticated collision avoidance systems. They have legitimate and beneficial uses. You don't want your nephew flying any old drone around your car, but assuming the TSA has no objection I will soon have an FAA license, and I am nobody's nephew since my Aunt Mary Lou died last month at age 99.
End of rant.
