Default 1988 - 928SE

great picture of the first UK SE that was raced in period by Tony Dron

Brands Hatch, 1988 - Qualified P1, then got nailed off the line by those lightweight 2.7RS and the 930 3.0 Turbo !

Amazing that so many parts were kept on that car, like the speakers, full leather dash, etc. That stuff adds up weight wise.

I'm going to guess that's per the racing rules for the class.

"Showroom stock" in SCCA was very similar back in the same era. Friend of mine used to own John Andretti's Corvette Challange car which spawned from that SCCA class. Same thing, full interior with a roll cage:

I love that video! A little before my time and most modern 911's are pretty well handling so I've never seen it in real life but that video really shows why they had a reputation for being tail happy cars. The 911's are threatening to break free on the rear at nearly every turn.

What happened to all of the other cars? Crappy coverage.

That is interesting.....but no passenger side rear view mirror! Weight savings?
