Bad fuel pump?
So - cleaned the tank and went about testing pump. When 12v is applied to pump, it hums...
Most pumps/motors I have tested in the past will make a kind of "whirring" sound as they spin up. I am assuming this pump is bad - as it just hums and I can feel and hear the hum. I definitely do not hear the spin up I would have expected.
Before I order a pump just wanted to double check with those with experience.
Thanks -

Same result both ways. I think this one is done. Not sure why, as tank seemed relatively clean when finding it out...no sludge at this point. Will inspect again when dry.

I was just curious about the hum. The battery charger explains it (getting some AC humps thru the charger).
Some folks have reported breaking a stuck pump loose by using jumpers from a good battery and momentarily hooking the pump up normally and with reverse voltage repeatedly.

I'll try that. Still have the jumper wires on the pump. I just found after my tank has dried out that my internal strainer has disentegrated (pics coming), so it does not surprise me if junk has in fact gotten in there. I'll report back this afternoon. Thanks Wally!

Same result with normal and reverse polarity straight from battery. Can hear hum for a quick sec on pump but no spin up at all.

Pull it off and soak the inside with Kroil for a day or three, then do Wally's back n forth polarity method. I'll bet she'll break loose.
