Default Wiring Question (CE Panel)

All - '83 928S question...

Worked through the wiring at the CE Panel last night to make sure there was no corrosion or any broken leads. To my excitement everything looks really good. Cleaned the grounds there.

Two questions. In my pics below, there are two red/white wires that come straight from the loom above the CE Panel but they terminate into two barrel fuse connectors - it looks like someone may have put in alternate fuses for a circuit to bypass the fuse in the panel. The barrels were empty.

The wires are probably 20 ga., and I did not see any connector for the panel that looks like the wires were cut off of.

That is question one - definitely does not look factory but I have no explanation.

Second question (related) is: How does one interpret color codes of wiring on the factory wiring diagrams?

As always thanks!

Those fuse holders are standard and power the central door locks for each side, I think they shoud have a 0.4A fuse in them.
The wiring diagrams have the colour codes at the bottom of each sheet if that's what you're asking?

Thanks gazfish - makes me feel a WHOLE lot better. I'll get the fuses in them and reassemble.

I downloaded the wiring diagrams from the site linked in the FAQ-New Member thread on RL and mine have a legend at the bottom right and a diagram for the ground markings at the bottom left, but I can't find the color codes. That's exactly what I need though. I only downloaded '84 since that was closest to my year...I'll go grab a later MY and maybe they will be there.

Thanks again.
