See my thread for alternator problem.

I had mine bench tested and was told it was fine. All my problems disappeared when I replaced it.

I read your thread. that is how I tested the #1 pin etc.

I do not want to replace the alternator as I want to keep this car original as possible. Is there a way to fix the old alternator?

Yes, send it to CAE in Van Nuys CA. Pretty quick turn around. That's what I did with my 1973 Carrera RS alternator since I wanted to keep the original.

Thanks. I am going to bring it to the guy one more time and make him go through it with me and I am bringing some paperwork I found on the wiring.

on a good note I got my dash lights working so now I can see my speedometer at night.

G'day Dave,

How did you sort the dash lights, for my memory bank please, and thanks in advance.

It was the adjustment under the dash. I had taken it out and cleaned it last summer. this time I used deoxit and now they work like a charm.

Ok last effort to figure this out.

My alternator repair guy had some voltage regulators on his shelf with the same model number. They were used but I thought what the hell I will give it a try. installed new regulator very simple 2 bolts 3 wires. with the new voltage regulator my alternator light went out after I started the car (always stayed on before). Alternator is still not charging even at high RPM.

Here are some volt readings.
engine on at idle - Alt exciter wire at alt. 9.9V
engine off key set to on position - Alt exciter wire 10.16V
engine off key set to on position - Big Hot 12V cable on ALt. 11.5V
engine off key set to on position - Jump post 11.79
engine off key off - Jump post 12.18V
[UPDATE] The alt light on the dash pod does not go on anymore when turning the key to on position. I put the dash pod back together and it stopped working or it only worked for a min when I tested it after installing new volt regulator.
Any suggestions?
