Hello all.
Now that I have my car back from a complete body restoration (just in time to put it away for the winter), I am looking into my "alarm - flashing LED door post mod to pre 89 cars".
I have not found a 12-volt signal from the alarm system to modify the LED lock posts.
I have found a 12-volt signal from the central lock system when doors are locked. Though not and indication of a primed alarm, it works great for adding the flashing LED door lock posts (easy install as well).
Is there anyone out there that knows of a way to get a "constant" 12-volt signal from the alarm system in pre-89 cars?
My car in particular is an 88, and I have looked through the wiring diagrams and been in the car with a tester, but have not located a source. Bare in mind I am no electrical specialist.
Any thoughts

Not quite clear on what you want to do, but if you have 12v when the doors are locked, then use it. Otherwise, it means that if the doors are locked without the alarm being set, the LEDs won't flash. Not the kind of information you want to publicize...

Hello Old & New,
There are two reasons why I want this flashing LED system for my car. One, it is a visable sign to others that my car has an active alarm system. Two, it tells me that the alarm is active. I have had much trouble in the past with the alarm arming itself on its own, then going off and shuting the car down.
What I am looking for is a constant 12-volt signal when the alarm is primed so that I can run power to my door lock post LEDs. This signal must come from the alarm or alarm control unit.
What I have now is a 12-volt signal from the cenral door lock actuators that is present when the door are locked. This does power the door post LEDs when the door are locked, however it has nothing to do with weather the alarm is primed or not. It just indicated that the door are locked.
PS: sorry no spell check.

So you end up with the alarm set with the doors unlocked
In therory this is fine. (doors must be locked for alarm to arm) However if I am working on the car and the alarm arms it's self (malfunction), I will have no indication untill the horn sounds and the power is cut to the fuel pump.
