Default 16 valve head

I posted this question on the 944 board and didn't get any response, so I thought the 928 people could tell me, is a 928 16 v 1-4 head interchangeable with a 944S head?
Thanks in advance

Not directly interchangable, the water connection to the bridge is differrent. But can be made to fit OK with some machining

I think (too much) that Rich A. has that set up in his 79 track car running CIS injection?.

Care to chime in Rich?.

If you remove the pistons and notch (valve reliefs) them you can run the 85-86 5 liter short block with 16 valve heads ...it is then a valve bender interference motor BUT they run very strong !

jim,

why only the 85-86 blocks, what about the later s4 ones?

i like the idea of only 16v and one cam shaft per head with less stress on the timing belt and less expense in rebuilding. is their any development potential in a 16v euro head in terms of increasing flow?
