Registry indicates that 167 / 406 GTS's were 5-speeds. 41%. Almost exactly as I said.

Same story here in the UK - not a single 5-spd GTS for sale. Not a single one in the last 12mths either. In total 44 cars ever registered in the UK. I know of at least 5, which have been written off/converted to race cars. Add the number exported to Hong Kong etc. Not many to chose from, hence a good GTS 5-spd will sell for whatever the seller wants to sell it for. An excellent GTS will sell for a lot more than people think.

I have been in touch with collector guys to either sell mine or put them in touch with other owners. Not a single one has expressed any desire to own an Auto. Not a single owner has expressed a desire to sell yet. Kind of says it all...

P.S. Look at the values for 993 Tiptronics and 993 6-spd cars... Tells you everything you need to know about the mkt.

Excellent! I poked-around The Registry before I posted, but breakfast was done before I could find a tally.

I've always suspected that the proportion of 5-speed GTSs was higher than what is commonly tossed-about for 928 averages. 167 cars for 1993-1995 (? yes? ) is still not a lot of cars. For example: there are WAY more Ferrari 512s during that period.

Just FYI for USA/Canada 5-speed Production:
  • 1990 GT 142/455 = 31%
  • 1991 GT 145/387 = 37%
  • 1994 GTS 44/139 = 32%
  • 1995 GTS 30/77 = 39%
I need to do additional research on the 89s, as there were both 5-speed S4s as well as GTs. The 93 model year info is a little harder to compile as well.

Who knows how many have been lost to accidents, salvage, etc.
