Door Open light/horn gremlin
Though the doors and trunk are definitely closed, the interior lights and door open horn go off intermittently while I'm driving around. I suspect it's related to the trunk, as it seems to happen more at higher speeds where the aerodynamics would tend to pull up on the trunk. But it could be a door too. One thing is for sure, its very annoying.
Any experiences with this or ideas on how to fix it?
Hugs,
Mario
First off, thanks for the hugs. Everyone needs a good hug, once in a while.
You could check inside your door hinge rubber boot. It could possibly be a frayed wire, after all the years of opening and closing. If your hatchback closes firmly, I doubt it is that, but stranger things have happened, with these cars.
Good luck
Don
Neither should go off while driving due to the doors/hatch being open, The hood has nothing to do with triggering interior cabin lights - so it is not that anyway.
Please go into more detail on what happens and for how long...
Alan
A little more detail. I called it a horn, but it's more of a buzzer I suppose (from under the dash somewhere). It's the annoying 1980 version of today's door chime that sounds when a car door opens.
So, I'll be driving along and it comes on intermittently, sometimes for a split second (seems to coincide with bumps in the road) and sometimes for multiple minutes on end. Along with the buzzer sound, the overhead interior lights and the door foot lights come on. These all come on when I open the door or trunk, as designed, but now they're coming on when I'm driving and the doors are all shut (supposedly shut).
I suspect the trunk because the trunk would pop open, failing to latch though I turned the key to the locked position. This would lead me to believe it's a latch issue, but I did get it to finally latch after multiple tries and the same buzzer/interior lights issue would resurface.
