Default Pod lighst (LED upgrade) were intermittent and now stopped working

the previous owner installed a LED "upgrade" they worked fine for a while and then they were intermittent and now mostly don't work at all. I did see them blink on and off dimly last week.

Sound like a bad /weak or dirty connection. Where should I look to clean or fix these contacts?

all other warning lights and guages work fine.

...and a pic of my baby, because we all love pictures

Depending on what kit he used, it may just be the connections. Check at the rheostat first and see if you have power there. There are a few really crappy kits that I've encountered that stopped working after just a few months.

this..

reach under the left side of the pod..and rotate your dimmer switch. You're wlecome

the dimmer, if not modified with one compatible with LEDS will be either ON...or off...no dimming in between.

The rheostat does dim the lights on the HVAC controller only slightly , but it does.

Do they all blink or is it just a few. I would bypass the rheostat or purchase one designed to accommodate led's.

They have not blinked at all for a few weeks now. When they did start failing it was not usually all of them at one time that blinked. First one went out and the others seemed fine. then I seemed to be down to one, it blinked for a while and then it gave up the ghost

Sounds like they actually died - just replace with known quality bulbs

Are they the early ones that were sold w/the prisms and LED's?

If so they do fail, I have gone through two sets a few years ago, first they start blinking then fail completely.

They can be replaced using the original Prisms and using non directional LEDS that are dimmable and plug into the stock sockets.

My experience was not good at all with this type of dash illumination. The replacement prism had much better visibility IMHO.

Really, when and what ones did you try?
The newer surface mounted multi-LED (directional &bright) non-polarized LED's
work great, plug and play.
Actually you could get away with two, one on each end and not in the middle.

I agree. My dimmer isn't working properly...I have Ed's box, I think my rheostat is at fault here, but I'd probably turn mine down a bit if I could.

Dave,
It's 5 years or so since I tried the direct LED replacement for incandescent bulbs. If they have updated and upgraded to make them work correctly, that would be awesome!!
