Tony, When new the caps are easier to remove than when 16 years old. 928 International and Devek also carry the parts on the Left coast. I too lost some plastic into the manifold and it was a bear to remove. Sorry don't remember the cost. Not much though. Yep you can get upper and lower o rings spacer and caps.
Hang in there you can do it.

Ed, thanks! the new cap on the Ford injector was tight while the old cap from the original injector was loose. Do I need to break the new cap before putting on the complete correct seal kit?

the porsche injector seal kits come with new caps, so yes you can break the ford caps.

you need 8 kits. $8 ea if i remember right.

Dave-thanks for the info. Where did you get yours from? Devek, 928 International, 928 Specialist, or Porsche dealer? Incidentally, the Ford 19# I purchased has 4 holes instead of the single pin style. Does yours has 4 holes as well?

Ed, thanks again. I thought instead of comparing the color and outlet head type etc, I have decided to gather the part numbers from the injector bodies.

This is what I get:

The injector from the engine (beige and silver color with single pintle orifice)
060-0280150730 with side script 646

The Ford fote D5B 19# injector (orange and sprayed black color with 4 outlets)
927-0280150556 with side script 084

Does anyone know any website that can provide more information and/or cross reference on these two injectors.

As far as the exterior profile, they look identical.

Porsche 930,
I just scanned through the recent posts but I will add that you should be able to use the stock o rings without removing any of the plastic caps. I was able to take a small screwdriver and pry all the o-rings off and swap them.

Hi Andy,
I have done exactly that before with a small screwdriver, but because the spacer on the new injector is twice as thick as the original one, there was no free play for the old o-rings to move between the new cap and the new spacer. I tried to "force" the injector into the intake but to no avail because of the tight fit. I think I really need to re-use the original spacer and the original o-ring, but I can only achieve that by breaking the plastic cap first from the new injector. Any advice is appreciate.

mine are the single pintle. you have the newer ones.

the porsche o-ring on the ford injector without swapping caps and spacer ring is a VERY tight fit, but i got them on there.

be sure to coat the o-rings with a little vaseline before installing them...

Dave-I did apply wd-40 on the o-rings but did not work. I have not thought of vaseline, but will certainly try it next weekend. I would not be able to work on this project during the week days. In any case, I may contact the big three and see where I can get the seal kit. Thanks again to you all and have a nice evening!

Hello everyone...I am excite to report my injector replacement project is now successfully over! I replaced all the injectors with the new Ford D5B on Saturday; my S4 starts right away and idles quite stable now. I actually feel a slightly better throttle response at off the line acceleration. It used to be a little sluggish, but now it is smooth and a little quicker...in any case, I have to replace both upper and lower o-rings, spacers, and the plastic cap with the Porsche injector re-seal kit to make this works. Thank you for all your tips on this project. I am glad the S4 is back on the road again!

It takes some effort to get them to snap on. I press the injector firmly against my work table until I hear the click.
