Default Brake booster orientation

On LHD cars, the brake booster has its vacuum inlet on the engine side of the booster unit and is reasonably accessable.
On RHD cars, the booster is just moved straight over to the other side of the car, making the booster vacuum port right in under the mudgard behind the master cylinder.
This necessitates a right angle vacuum valve for RHD cars whereas the LHD counterpart has a straight valve.
Can anyone tell me why the brake booster can't be 'turned upside down'?
Physically it can. The mounting bolts are a uniform 4 bolt pattern and the master cylinder bolts are a uniform 2 bolt pattern.
What, if anything is inside that would be upset by living upside down?

I would venture a guess that the hose is positioned higher so oil in the hose doesnt run down the hose and fill the booster

Yes, it would place the hose lower than centre.

Just put a non vented catch can midway before the booster and oil problem solved

Not sure if that would actually work but it's worth a shot.

So no one is seeing a problem with the function of the booster invered?
If it was more accessable it could be tried but it's such a pain to get in and out with the motor in.

It isn't too bad with a 16V car. The 32V cars seem to be more difficult...
