Not trying to drum up any business here as i'm booked out until, well, next year but don't just take your car to any Joe Blow.
I've worked on 3 cars in the last 2 months that were in "Porsche Shops" and this is the sorta **** i'm seeing. If you're a member on my FB page you will get to see all sorts of things like this.
This one today really puts me in a foul mood. An '87 that I told the owner to park it until I could get a spot for him. Glad he did.
That's some seriously messed up belt placement!! I would really like to hear that persons explanation on that routing!! Glad the owner took your advice!!
Sean,
When you find an issue like this, have you always or do you always take pictures to show the owner? I would think in your line of work, it would be a great practice to take pictures (just to CYA).
If you haven't always taken pictures, did someone recommend that you take pictures?

Just curious.
Oh yea, I sent him the pictures and want to talk to him before continuing any further. I only post up a small fraction of what I find though. I take tons of pictures on each job for exactly what you are thinking about.
Sad part is that it's hardly the first one with that belt routing. Don't worry, the teeth on the belt are strong, and will bounce off each other if they touch. Plus the belt does touch all those little wheel things. What could go wrong?
