Well I've taken out the bolts both sides at the 3-bolt flanges, rather than try to separate the pipe from exit of the cat which looks very difficult without possible damage to the pipe. It still seems ridiculous that I'm working at this end when I just want to remove the driveshaft! Still it's nice opportunity to renew all the corroded bolts/locknuts there.

I will unscrew the O2 sensor when the exhaust has dropped an inch or so. The other connection is the air pipe. Does it just spin off with the hex on the pipe going to the cat counter held? How big is the nut? Want to make sure I have correct size wrench.

Making progress slowly. Thanks all!
