Pulling the dash and WYAIT items
First off...AGGGGHHHH!!! WHERE ARE THOSE FOUR BLOODY BOLTS HOLDING THE DASH ON!?
I think I've got the two off that are holding the dash to the crossbar tube. But it still seems very solidly mounted, and I do not see the other two. I did undo one on the passenger side, but I'm not convinced it's the right bolt. The driver's side, however...I don't see anything there at all.
Now, assuming I do win this battle in the end...I have some WYAIT items. In fact, I took a break from bolt-searching and tested all of the vacuum lines for the HVAC system. It appears my center outlet flap and heater lines fail to hold vacuum, and my defrost line seems to hold a small amount, but not more...I'm guessing there's a slow leak there. I was really hoping the recirc line would fail, because I wanted that to be a reason why my AC is not as cool as it could be, but such was not my luck. However, I suspect I should still take that box down and reseal it, etc?
What is the preferred solution for the vacuum actuators? Do I replace the whole unit, or are they rebuildable?
On the solenoid side, I've read they usually do not go bad, but what is the preferred method of proving that they are good? Give them voltage and listen for a click?
Anything else I should be doing while the dash is out? (I'm already refurbing the instrument pod, etc while it's out).

There are two bolts on either end that are not obvious, and a bit tricky to find and get out. Here's one from Pirtle's keepers - http://members.rennlist.com/pirtle/keepers.html. And a better one from Nichol's Tips - http://www.nichols.nu/tip171.htm
As to WYAITs, there are a few things (generally applies for most years, yours may vary somewhat, but essentially the same). First, Duane's write up for refurb of the a/c actuators - http://www.dwaynesgarage.norcal928.o...Procedure.htm;
then Dave's write up for pod electrics refurbish - http://members.rennlist.com/sharkski...calRefurb.htm;
Also, a critical one is refurb of the blower motor and resealing the blower box - this is never easier than with the dash out - http://members.rennlist.com/sharkski...r-HoodPad.htm;

Awesome, thanks for those references!
Regarding the bolts, I just realized (duh) that since I'm actually replacing the dash, I can look at the new one for attachment points. And, there they are...on the ends, as you said. They seem to be well hidden when installed but I should be able to poke around in that general direction now...
