Hmmm...you're right. There are (a bit older) articles for a previous time when this car was for sale that claimed it was the one in the video. That's disappointing lol

Another resurrection!

Robert Johnson (Nashville, TN) was the owner of a black/black '88 S4 that I serviced. Possibly the one from the old ad..

My dealings with Robert weren't good. He was a new 928'er back in 2012 when he purchased the car. I had his car for a couple months and gave him a great price for the work that I did. In hindsight, everything was suspect beginning with the story that this car belonged to a KISS drummer, presumably Eric Carr. Robert was in a hurry from the get-go. He paid cash for half and post-dated a check for the remainder of the balance. Reluctantly and regrettably, I accepted as he was "terminally ill" and desperate to get the car from me to have a supercharger fitted so that he and his unnamed son could have QT travelling in his new toy.

The check bounced.. Shocker.

I guess his 928 wasn't part of the deal when he sold his soul to the Devil at the Crossroads.

Bounced checks with me also. Same MO, brought seed money then wrote a check when done.

Sorry to hear that..

Fortunately, that's the only 928 owner that 'got' me. 99% of them have truly been upstanding people.

Robert should have been a Corvette owner.

He didn't get me for that kind of coin BUT, as you know, it's principle. IIRC he got me for 1k.

I don't think the search party would yield much, Joe. The most believable part of the story was the illness.. 7 years ago.

Yep..

That's the car. Glad to see the intake and cam covers are still holding up. I painted them with waterborne auto basecoat, then CC'd them.. right over bare cast. Didn't know how that would work out.

And part of me hoped it wouldn't! It was definitely an experiment.

I did the top end refresh, installed a Motorsports of Utah X-pipe, and R&R'd upholstery that Robert Budd hopefully didn't get hustled for doing.

Oh I got my money, took a couple months but the AG here doesn't look too kindly on vehicle repairs not paid for and the customer has the car. Only took a kindly worded letter that I would file the paperwork on his car and would have no problem coming up with a trailer to collect my car if unpaid in 30 days.

No prob on taking care of your car man.

I won my 'judgement' but wasn't as successful on the collecting part.
