My first engine removal. Now what? head gasket cam question
#16
3. When I pulled the engine out, I broke off one of the small metal parts on the flywheel. Is this something I can overlook?
Could you please help me understand which small metal part was broken from the flywheel?
Thanks !

My engine still worked it just smoked. So I'm going to just leave the lifters alone. I kept them in order.
Here is a picture of the broken piece of the flywheel and my cam towers. I cleaned one so far. Taking apart the cam was hard. The bolt was super tight and I needed to use a counter wrench.
The gaskets inside were a little tricky. There was a super small one that was really hard to remove but easy to replace. Now time to start on the next one. Thank you all.
Broken tab from flywheel. This is an automatic.
This is so cool to look at once it's out. I'm not going to clean it as it seems pretty clean.
One down. One to go. I can finally read the writing.

There are 3 seals I'm replacing in each cam plus the rear cork gasket. The first three are here. The small one is inside the metal piece. From the manual p. 15-6.
