Working on a 90 with the same symptoms and it is being caused by a number of issues. The MAF is not in the best of shape and the Temp II sensor was actually leaking coolant from the body of it. Very odd.

I'll just post the pictures and let you discuss them.

MAF, CPS sensors, LH,EZK, top end refresh have all been mentioned so far. And in truth, if they haven't been refreshed since the last ice age, it's time for all of them.
However, you are also correct to first find root cause. For example, dont change out the MAF, LH, Ezk at the same time because it's too many changes at once.
First, here are some "no money" checks:
Check your fuel pressure with an appropriate gauge, with the pump activated at the CE panel.
Verify your static temp sensor resistances at the ends of the LH/EZK cable harnesses with an ohm meter.
Verify your static coil resistances.
Verify your spark plug and coil wire resistances.
Activate power to your fuel pump, LH/EZK modules by jumpers.
Try and start the car.
Failing all that, it's time to spend some money.
Next would be to have the MAF calibrated/rebuilt.
Replace your CPS
If no start/run, then have the Ezk and LH calibrated.
Get that far and see where your at.
Once the car is running, it's time to plan that top and refresh. Plan to spend some cash, as thus will involve all new breather hoses, new idle valve, injector calibrations, temp sensors, fuel pressure regulator and dampners, fuel hoses, vacuum hoses, air filter..,,
Yes, refreshes with these old cars are getting to be very comprehensive.

Odd-looking fuel pump (don't recall stock pumps having hose-adapters), is that an '044?

CPS looks fine, just a bit tricky to figure out which way to plug it in.

And the FPR has a healthy "cold/hot-start enrichment" function going, should be fine as long as there is a good-sized air-leak under the intake to balance the AFR.

Ricardo, Here is the XLS spreadsheet from Roger for an 85-86. I'm sure the one for your '87 will differ somewhat, but this can be used as a starting point.

Just wanted to update the '90 I've been working on that has had the similar issue. I already posted the pictures of the initial findings but there is more, and more going on.

Plug wires were doing the fire fly dance when running and looked original so those were replace.

I narrowed it down cylinders 1,3,6,7 not firing so swapped in a new cap/rotor. No change. Then to the passenger side coil wire since it was old, put new. No change. Popped on a set of new Ignition amps from my car, no change so it's gotta be the coil right? Swapped in, no change.

Checked voltage at the coils, all good, continuity between the EZK and igamps good. Grounding all good (had replaced or checked all grounds)

A few days of frustration and what do I see? That aint right.

Nope sure isn't right.

Now you may ask why the shock would be pushing out like that? Something must be missing.

When a shop that specializes in 928's can't put a damn shock together correctly, they might need to think about going in to another line of work. Missing this one washer has cost this customer a lot of cash and me a lot of time.
