It looks like you have removed the tightening bolt(s) from the steering column coupler to the rack. That rubber disc in the steering column is a bit of a shock absorber, but you don't need to undo it to R&R the engine.

Do you have the eight bolts out of the motor mounts?

I don't think '84 engines had engine shock absorbers (from the front ear of the girdle to the medial lower control arm bracket). If you had engine shocks, this is what they'd look like:

Rob: you were right. That's exactly how it looked in the manual. I just assumed that it was different due to different MY. I was getting hung up on the flywheel clearance.
