Default Performance upgrades.

I've been going through thoughts of how to upgrade my 928GT and will probably go this route, not sure when but it will happen.

GTS brakes - putting the GT/S4 ones on the 944.

This post will be a lot about Devek stuff and the reason for writing on a public forum instead of asking Devek directly is that I might try and find local stuff, freight and import taxes+VAT makes a lot of stuff expensive to get from the US and if I can get the same stuff here I'd prefer it only for that reason.

Stroking the engine and upgrade details to insure that it will last, when reading the text on www.devek.net about stroking I get unsure of which kit that would be best. The premium kit seems to have lighter rotational mass but it's mentioned that oil consumption may increase over time and I sure don't want that.

What is the difference betwen a GT and a GTS engine except for the stroke - when stroking with the DEVEK kit they will both be 6-liter engines but there must be detail differences - anyone who have a list of the small things that can be changed or replaced?

Quoted from www.devek.net:

[B]"The White Car" - 6.0 liter stroker kit, big valve heads, GT cam, DEVEK headers, custom 4" exhaust, 30 lb injectors & rising rate fuel pressure regulator, & more (but factory chip!)

max hp = 365.7 max torque = 391.4 "/[B]

So the differences mentioned betwen this and my stock GT are:

Stroker kit
big valve heads
Devek Headers
Custom 4" exhaust
30 lb injectors and rising rate fuel pressure regulator
"and more"

How much does the big valve heads do, and what would a set cost - can stock ones be modified?

Headers, how much would I gain with these? To keep the car road legal I need cats on it so I in that case would need to get a system built with cats..

What do you guys think would be the proper way of doing it?

Don't have comprehensive list of changes but I think Mark from Devek wrote once that GTS pistons don't have oil return lines drilled all the way through, instead they are just pits that don't lead to anywhere if I understood it correctly. So oil can't return back to sump that way and tends to go to combustion chamber instead. This was perhaps done to make engine block last longer. Side effect is higher oil consumption in high engine rpm. GTS pistons may also be forged.

Remember reading somewhere that there is channels in GTS block to help air movement between cylinders so there's less resistance when pistons come down. Hope to have first hand experience soon. When I have engine opened, I'll compare block to friends S4 parts.

Then there's of course obvious crank shaft and connecting rod changes to get longer stroke and different bit milder cams.

What do you guys think would be the proper way of doing it?
Proper way is to order batch of cranks directly from Scat so I can get one cheply also.

Seriously, I have been thinking about getting one for GTS. There has to be some place that can do it inside EU so tax and larger shipping costs can be avoided. I think VAT can't be, only optimised (between 15 and 26% I think) depending where in EU it's paid.

Hei Vilhuer!

I'm actually in Turku, Finland right now!!!

Will be in Helsinki tomorrow around lunch I think. Possibly today already but then I'll have to do a late check-out from my hotel and possibly have to pay for a hotel in Helsinki as well..

Would be nice to meet another Nordic 928-owner - Sami951 is giving me a ride to the airport tomorrow..

Are there any nice bars or pubs in Helsinki on a monday night to get a proper beer in?

It would be interesting but can't make any promisees. All I can promise that Sami will get you to airport faster than any cabbie could ever dream of.

I'm sure Sami knows every drinking hole worth visiting.
