Default Disassembling early manual seats

Hi guys,

I'm currently in the process of disassembling my seats, so I can replace some of the foam which has deformed over the years.
After doing that I'm planning on painting the leather for a perfect finish.

I have trouble however disassembling the seat top and bottom.
Could somebody tell me how to tackle this issue?
I searched the forums, but all info I could find were on the later electric seats.

Below are pictures of the sides of the seat.
What should I start with?
I tried removing the 2 bolts, but that doesn't seem to be sufficient.
I don't really know what to try next without damaging the seat, mechanism, or anything else for that matter.

Thanks!

If I recall correctly the black adjustment **** must come off, or at least I took mine off. It has been a couple of years but I know that I removed the tilt adjustment ****.

So I guess I have to pry off the black metal circle thingie holding the ****? (first pic)
I looked at it, but it seemed pretty hard/looked like it would require a lot of force.

Yes, that is the way I remember it. Be mindful of the technique used to remove and how it might be reassembled. IIRC my driver went back together easily but my passenger required additional materials (JBWELD,lol) to make it work. I think I buggered up the ring while removing.

You don't want to pry it. Look closely and you will see it turns inside the plastic **** and lines up with spaces so the **** just lifts off. I used a screwdriver to rotate the sheet metal piece counter clockwise while holding the ****. Once you have done it, it is pretty straight forward.
