Finally got round to reading some of the magazines that came with my car and one of them is from the UK in 1978 with an article on the newly launched 928, on the next page is a top of the range Ford Escort that just had a facelift. I appreciate they were not in the same price bracket by a long way, but it just emphasized the kind of chrome laden bricks that were around at the time and how the 928 just seemed to land from another planet. The fact that it didn't show other manufacturers the way forward, or they were just too broke to follow their lead, is just as amazing to me, it took a lot more years before other cars caught up including other "super cars" in terms of their design.
Thanks... They're surprisingly hard on the car. Maybe I used to contemporary reviews where only low-priced cars get criticized. Seems that writers today are swayed by the trips and cars they drive and the desire for more perks.
