Ignition retarded - Sharktuner
Put in a supercharger, Victors, all great. Had to do some real backyard rigging to Sharktune it as round plugs don't fit into rectangles. ...but nonetheless, success.
However! As I expected, the ignition is displaying retarded on Sharktune but all the sensors are reading good/green. It definitely feels down on power. She runs smooth.
I checked timing before I installed supsupercharger. I changed out both ignition coils, both coil wires, and rotors.
What is causing ignition to retard? Initial tuning was done without blow off valve vacuum hooked up - low rpm to get it mapped. It's hooked up correctly now.
No cat
No air pump

Did you plug the wires together that live near the computers?
There are 2 down there that should only be plugged together when you use poor quality fuel as it retards the timing a lot.
Someone will have a picture of them.

I was feeling this down on power thing prior thus the changing out of several components. I rechecked sensors also. Was nice to get validation that the sharktuner was stating they were "good" but I'm curious if I can go by that.?
My assumption prior was faulty hall sensor as the connector cracked while doing tb/wp. But I reconnected/fixed that.
Hmm JD did mention a fuse or capacitor that may be blown on one of the boards. May have to check that but not sure where that is (guessing ezk)
I didn't disconnect or connect anything other than the LH and EZK harness.
Thank you for the info. I've never seen these fuel wires down there.

We need John to comment here, but my experience is that all-sensors-green with a ignition-retarded indication is usually a Hall-sensor issue.
Did you change the Hall sensor or just replace the connector?
Blake, I think the "octane loop" jumper you refer to is for the 85-86 EZF without knock-retard. The 87+ EZK has knock sensors to retard timing, and a hall-sensor to tell it which cylinder(s) to retard. If any of the sensors are defective then it retards all of the cylinders, as a fail-safe.

The ignition monitor screen coloured indicators on the right hand side show any possible Hall or knock faults.
Are you saying you have a full house of 6deg retard on all the individual cylinder retard indicators across the bottom of the screen on that page ?

Switched out the hall sensor. Haven't run it yet. Tomorrow I may hook the sharktuner up and check reading.
All I saw was big Old red circle saying ignition retarded. I didn't notice any specific reading about cylinders.
