Yup, and the movie he was watching..was still playing after the crash.

A 'pilot' ignored his job to be PIC, and died.

Here come the rules..after what will be a HUGE useless lawsuit, over if in autodrive, a capable driver must be at the wheel, who is solely responsible for the safety of the trip.

Tesla did nothing wrong here, automated systems driving cars in traffic are never, will never, be perfect.

This is really unfortunate and exactly the scenario I brought up in post #7.

But Telsa IMO bears responsibility if their algorithms actually "failed to distinguish the white side of a turning tractor-trailer from a brightly lit sky"

I started this thread by asking how much fun would you have while "driving a driverless 928" , but no one has really adressed the question.

How many of you would buy a driverless 928 if such was available and why ?

And what would be the point of a "driverless" 928 or any other Porsche for that matter?
Sports cars and GT's are built to be Driven, not to sit in like a bath tub, right?

Amen. No thrill at all in being driven around in a really fancy-looking taxi.

The 928 is still a pretty nice car to arrive in, no matter who or what is actually driving it.

Not at all.

The driver OK'd the requirement that he be aware at all times.

Same thing..in planes. When George flies you to your death, it's your fault.
