This is what we sent to paint, they pulled the doors and put them back on afterwards, and the windshield stayed in. I haven't seen the bill but I think it was 8 or 9K, maybe a little less (?). Roughly a quarter of that was materials.
I had Turq out today at the Detroit Grand Prix. There was a special Corral parking area just for Porsches. Had many people just in awe of the car. When I told them the body modifications that had been done, they couldn't believe it. The paint is just amazing. I think it is better than factory. A testament to the shop that did the work.

Those of us who live on here (more or less) know just about every nut and bolt of that car.
There's a thread that goes about a bazillion pages detailing the work (and giving very clear indications of the level of Rob's OCD ).
No, but the GTS was painted by the PO in June 2006, I have the receipt for that job. The total was $11K, of which $2300 was rubber trim, $1500 was paint (Spies-Hecker BC-CC), and $7000 was labor, including $400 to weld the rub strip holes closed.
Turned out ok (hat-tip to Hacker for a nicer pic than I could have taken..)

Worth mentioning that the current California "legal" paint is water based.... and sadly it does not work all that well. Most repaints will only look good for a small fraction of the time that the original paint did.....The old very brown 1980 had the right rear quarter and door painted and clear coated at one time.. hood and left fender re-sprayed no clear coat but roof and left quarter hatch original paint. The clear coated quarter and door was peeling, flaking, the hood and fender faded away and would not buff up but the roof and left quarter still shine up pretty well In all fairness it did sit out ALL the time.
Just another reason why original paint gets a premium.
