Default here I am again: temp gauge issue

Hi!
just fixed mirrors and outer temp sensor, and I went for a ride.

temp gauge is usually just between 80 and 90 degrees , on my '92 GTS, this time showed for some seconds a drop at about 50-60 degrees C, then it went again at usual temp reading.

I stopped the car, went out and looked at engine bay, temp gauge sender is connected, no green oxid, plugged again the connector , restarted the car: about 85 °C. after 30 seconds the temperature dropped again to 50-60°C. and it stayed there....with engone idling went out the car again checked everything came to my mind at that moment, no visible problems....

have you ever experienced an issue like this?

is it the time for a instrument cluster check?

Thanks
Francesco

My '86.5 has a problem of guage pegging. My problem is the 'clip' that holds the ribbon to the guage is broken on one side. This causes intermittent problems with the guage (only temp). A tap on the pod and guage reads correct.

I believe my solution (I believe) will be to clean the contacts and make a 'crimp' to hold ribbon in place. Your problem may lie with the connector also.
