New intake runner valve - feels turbocharged
So during the course of repairs this spring I was dismayed to discover that my PO had left a frozen intake flappy installed in the manifold despite doing an intake refresh more than 5 years ago. I have replaced this valve as part of my intake refresh process, and I will say that the effect feels similar to turbocharging. A lot of power seems to come on strong above 3500 rpm, feels almost like two different engines now. The low-speed engine is the same one I've been driving for 5 years, so off the line performance feels similar. But the high rpm performance is greater, it seems. This is due to the flap changing over to a different set of intake runner pipes? I've read threads on the 928 intake but I am still learning how it all works.

A working flappy is a thing of beauty. I always loved 3rd gear from about 3400 to 6K in my '89 GT. That thing would pull away from about any normally aspirated car that I ever encountered. (Except a HIGHLY modified BMW M5 that sent me packing with my tail between my legs.)The typical Mustang/Camaro crowd could not believe the car was normally aspirated. LOL.

^^^^^^^^^ I know, wow. So what would have possessed the PO to leave a dead flappy valve in the intake when he had it all taken apart and painted?? The damn thing is like $30.
