Tried to buy one from two different sellers and both transactions were cancelled. I emailed this buyer today and got this response:

New message from: aircooledtreasury Top Rated Seller(1,095Red Star)
We participate in a program where eBay takes our inventory file and creates listings from it. For some reason, lately they've been showing stock for items that are not available at this time. Even if we delete the listing, it just recreates it when the quantities update periodically. I was on the phone with them today, and they claim they're trying to figure it out.
We are required to collect sales tax in any state where we have a warehouse. I don't like it either.

Hi, Do you actually have one in stock? If so great. If not, why is your auction still running? Why do you charge sales tax to out of state buyers? No one else does. I do not think you are allowed to unless within your state.

These high volume eBay sellers use a program that accesses big parts suppliers and they're not checking stock when stuff is listed. Those pump are definitely out of stock.

Mine cancelled too. Didn't really need one but was going to hoard it until I did.

That is interesting, lets hope it's a Laso pump!

And the answer is:

GEBA!

So not the Laso that was advertised but a German-made equivalent. One difference is that the impeller is metal and not plastic. Odd as you'd think plastic would be cheaper. And there's a gasket.

Send it back - they screwed you. GEBA is a lot cheaper than Laso and has the metal - mill a hole in your block - impeller.
Remind me did the ad say Laso? Just looked and definitely said Laso.

Yes, the ad said Laso and showed a picture of a Laso pump.

Still cheap for a decent pump. I may send it back. What I really wanted was to move my '80 to the later pump with pivot bolt brace.

Hey! Here's an idea P-car suppliers: A kit to add a brace pivot bolt to the early cars. T-belt failures are mostly that pivot bolt or the water pump. I'd need an arm, roller and bits to use it.

Glen already done a few for customers. Gets expensive with new parts. If you get some used parts it can be doable - need later 87+ tensioner complete, tensioner arm and rollers. Also need to cut a slot at the top of the TB cover.

I received mine today. Looks to be the correct pump, but the stamping on the pump says part number 7520 0202, but the part number on the Laso box says 7520 0104. Is this the correct pump for 87+?

Also, some of the mounting surface looks marred(top part of first picture above impeller)...maybe this has been used before?

While the Laso may cost more I think the Geba is a better made pump.

The same goes here for a major repairer and parts supplier. They won't use Laso and the owner went to Germany to visit the Geba factory and came away impressed and haven't had any trouble to date. They got sick of having to refit leaking Laso pumps. Hence their search for a better solution. The casting of the Geba pump is similar to the Porsche casting and better than the Laso. I just wish the Geba had the plastic impeller.

GEBA is still new and very few are sold so the track record is unknown.
The Laso casting is as good if not better than the GEBA & Porsche WP as we already proved that. Again internet myth.
WHY would anyone bring a new 928 water pump to market without first doing there homework. That shows me that they do not understand the 928. I talked to GEBA when they first came out and they have no interest at all in changing to a plastic impeller.

I am not saying a GEBA is as good or any worse than a Laso because there is no proof. BUT IT HAS A METAL IMPELLER and that fact alone disqualify's it in my book.

Slate Blue - I would love to see the stats on the Laso failures you mention as it is totally at odds with mine. In the last 3+ years I have seen only 4 issues with Laso out of thousands sold. They were all weep leaks and detected long before any serious damage was done. Please back up your statement with facts before it becomes internet myth. Knowing the Australian market as well as I do the quantity of WP's sold in country is relatively low compared with ROW/USA/CAN.
