Default Missing -- Hot Start

I have been experiancing some hot starting issues. The car will miss for a few moments during hot start. This doesn't last long and only occurs when the car has been at operating temp then cranked after sitting for approx. 20 min or less. "Missing" does not occur, if allowed to cool longer. Also, (and this may be my imagination), but she also seems to loose a little power after good and warm. Any ideas?

I had problems with my 79 Euro after having the car get warm and then shutting it down, then coming back to restart after it had been sitting from 30 min. to 3 hours. It would crank and crank and crank, then finally start and run rough for about 20 seconds and then smooth out. It would start fine in the mornings though, just one crank and she would fire right up. That kinda killed the theory of the check valve at the fuel pump.

I eventually made a fuel pressure testing guage. Hooked it up and had to make some adjustments to the fuel pressure. My control pressure was off a bit. At the same time I removed and replaced every vacuum hose that I could find. Many looked good but after removal they were hard and brittle and most were leaking a little bit. This really affected idle and I had tuned the car to idle good with these vacuum leaks, which is not good. The last thing I did was to install an O2 sensor so that I could take readings and fine tune the idle and mixture. The mixture I found was way off.

With all those things combined the car runs perfect. It even starts everytime hot or cold. Dont know what actually solved the problem but who cares the car runs better than ever. Spend a Saturday and do the above. You will like the results. Also, the cost was very cheap to do. I found all of my vacuum lines at local parts stores. Just brought in the old stuff and they let me loose in the back to compare hoses and bends.

Sounds like a plan. One of many things to takle at this point in my restoration process. I think I'm very close to just pulling the engine and taking care of it all (i.e. leaking cam covers/oil pan, timing belt, clutch, TT, vacuum, etc). I believe that the time I'll have to invest to do this with the engine in the car offstes the time needed to just pull the engine.

You know I was thinking about the same thing. I keep fixing oil leaks here and there. I fix one and another one begins. Im seriously thinking about pulling the motor and resealing it along with new T.B. T-stat, water pump and the rest of the stuff up front. Then I could clean it up really nice and reinstall. and I really dont think it would cost all that much. However the gasket set is a few pennies and with the water pump.

Hupp,

The hot start miss sounds like a partially plugged or leaking injector. When cold the cold start injector provides enough extra fuel to keep it from missing. Try running a good cleaner like Techron to see if it improves.

Did the Techron, a few tanks worth. I think I have one or more toasted injectors.
