Who will be the first to drop a Panamera V8Turbo in a 928? It's going to happen.

The LS is actually a tiny engine compared to the 5.0 DOHC 928 motor. I'm sure the super-deep oil pan is what makes the Cayenne motor so tall, but actual length, width and height, (besides pan depth) I just can't believe it could be measurably larger than the early 4V motors, which are almost exactly Big Block Chevy bore spacing... Electronics would surely be "involved..." Ken

Interesting idea
Old thread, checking to see if anyone is still curious about this idea.
I have a small shop and have done a bunch of different swaps on various platforms as well as typical automotive work throughout the years. I am military and retiring soon (I hope). As such I was thinking to do one BIG build to establish my shop or just get out of the Automotive landscape all together.
I like the idea of a modern Porsche V8 in an older Porsche car and have been thinking about this specific swap for years now. I think the best way to get it done and obtain the best performance would be to keep as much of the Panamera together as possible. Meaning all the systems you can retrofit and make operable the better. In my head that would include; complete engine/drivetrain system, instrument cluster, HVAC, steering column, and whatever else would fit/work with modifications.
I know this seems aggressive but that's what makes it intriguing to me as well as the fact that it hasn't yet been done.
A ~600hp AWD 928 would be loads of fun especially with modern advances in engine management and suspension/traction controls.
I am planning to buy two cars: wrecked Panamera Turbo and 928 with a clean title.
Please let me know what you all think here.
Thanks!
Mike
