Joel/Steve,
I don't think cooling would extend the life of LH brains.

The problem is the IC process used by Bosch in the hybrid circuit. It's not a heat problem, it's an IC static/age problem.

Dodgy earths due to poor maintainace, arcing HT leads and surges on the battery from "rapid starters/boost chargers" can all help the ECU to fail
faster.

The earth point under the air filter can be a problem, especially if that little short heater hose nearby has split at some time, soaking it in antifreeze solution. And the MAF doesn't like that treatment either !
