Default coolant light need help

My coolant light comes on after the car has been sitting for a day. I turn the car off and on and the light still comes on. I then move the car a foot forward, turn off the car and start it and the light doesnt come on. Any one have idea on this?

Thanks,
Katmando

Your coolant in the reservoir is probably on the low side or the sender at the top is sticking. When you start the car and the coolant heats, the expansion is enough to turn the sensor/light off.

Dennis, I can start the car fives times in a row and the coolant ligt will come on every time. It stops comming on when I put the car in first gear and move forward a foot or so.

Then my guess would be a sticking float on the sending unit or a loose/corroded electrical connector. Is your coolant level above the minimum line when cool?

From 1984 (maybe earlier in the USA) there are two sensors - One for level and one for pressure - The pressure sensor is connected parallel to the level sensor and is placed in front of the reservoir. You check it, just by removing the el-connector from the sensor

Sounds like you have a great wife. All mine knows how to do it turn the key on and point it.
