On a highway trip to sharks on ice( mountain highway) , with my wife ( speed control) my GT averaged 29 mpg( imperial galleon) over 1200 miles . With the cams and exhaust Colin was able to add a lot more timing , we had just changed to 42# injectors and had not fine tuned it so we were running too rich . So cams + exhaust + sharktune = better mileage

Terry GT,

Are you serious about your MPG's? That's amazing! How is your set up on your car? 5-speed? Original motor? TT or supercharged? Please spill the beans!!!!!!

All GTs are 5 speed manual
original motor
A S4 5 speed with the mods would get even better mileage with its taller gears
mods as per signature
no beans required

I get an average annually (May to October) of about 13 L/100km (city/highway).
Which is 18 miles US mpg or 21.7 Imperial mpg.

I do each year around 10 L/100km driving to Frenzy (2000 km).
Which is 23.5 US mpg or 28.2 Imperial mpg.

At 140mph there is no way they are showing 16mpg...

My E61 M5 very modern engine - V10 -507ps - over 32,000km I averaged 14.8ltrs/100km or 19.8mpg. However, the best ever was 11.8ltrs/100km 24mpg from Calais to Nurburg and the worst was at the Nurburgring where it did 58.3ltrs/100km which is 4.85mpg

My 996 GT3 with K400 Manthey engine would average 9lts/100km at 120km/h 31.4mpg and 11ltrs/100km 26mpg at 160km/h But the car is super slippery

My 928 GTS 5-spd would average about the same numbers as the M5

My E46 M3 would be about the same as the GT3

1989 S4 A/T
I generally average 13.5 l/100km (17USmpg) combined and 9.5 l/100km (25 USmpg) highway. The numbers could likely be better but it is hard keep off the go pedal.

Best I've seen is 25.5 mpg hwy, avg. 70 mph, in a chipped '85 5-speed I had a few years ago. It had a Y-pipe made from stock down pipes into a '84 single cat back and gutted pumkin - 2.5" X-pipes are too big for good part throttle velocity which hurts best possible mileage.

My chipped X-pipe S4 5-speed gets around 24 hwy @ 70 mph, but it does not have the belly pans (or radiator flaps).

My automatics never got over 22.

Note the fine print: imperial beans vs. USA beans. 29 imperial = 35 US, which isn't probable.

I would imagine this is a displayed mileage calculation error due to the lower pulse rate of larger injectors which were fitted.
