Default Dash warning light (!) issue...

Haven't been on here in years. Now a strange issue has surfaced on one of my 928's. I've done the obligatory search but did not dind anything related.

Here goes:

The issue is with the (!) warning light in the dashpod. All works as normal when turning the key, all warning lights come on, including the (!). When I start the car all the warning lights go out as they should, apart from the brake where I have to press the brake pedal, but the (!) warning light does not go out completely as it should. It only goes dim. When I then press the brake pedal the warning light for the brakes go out as it should but the (!) remains dim.

If I pull the handbrake the warning light for the handbrake and the (!) comes on bright again as it should, but then I disengage the handbrake the (!) goes back to just sort of dim.

Ive tried to attach a video here, its dark on purpose to show the lights better.

So far I have found the following:

-I changed the instrument cluster as I have several. The same happens on 3 different instrument clusters.

- Pins/contacts to the instrument cluster cleaned as they must be on the 928's.

- Grounds cleaned.

-Tried another button unit in the centre console for the (!) (and AC - seatbelt warning - central locking). same story.

But I did one very important discovery when changing the button unit in the centre console, if I leave the 6 pin plug (which I presume goes to the (!) button the issue goes away and the (!) extinguishes completely as it should.

Any ideas??

Do you have the wiring diagram? There must be something in the circuit that is causing current to be passing through the lamp when it shouldn't.

Do you have any blown fuses? I once had a bizarre scenario where a blown fuse allowed current to follow a different path and turn lights on when it shouldn't have.
