Default Non op windows, sunroof, lights, etc... Ignition?

OK...this happened only once, and ironically when I was backing out of the driveway to go meet Greg Nichols. First I noticed the brake light warning light that didn't go out when tapping the pedal. Then the windows and sunroof wouldn't work (rear wiper did). Then I noticed I didn't have turn signals. Then I turned around and parked the car in the garage and drove our other car to meet Greg.

Greg and I agreed there were too many things not working for it to be a single relay or fuse. Then he remembered a discussion about something in the ignition causing similar problems. When I got home I tried jiggling the key, and sure enough all is normal again. I've tested it at least four more times and still everything works. But this could just be the beginning. Is this kinda like the dying starter motor you can hit with a hammer many times to get many starts of out it - until you can't and are stuck somewhere? It's happened only once, but no lights and turn signals is my main concern. Car continues to start and run fine.

I haven't been able to find the old thread on this topic. I'm hoping someone can direct me to the thread.

well through deduction if you dont have any blown fuses and the systems come online with some key jostling then its a good bet you need a new ig switch.

Yes - I was certain it was a problem with the ignition, but there is an electrical and a mechanical side to the ignition, and according to WallyP, there is a small metal tab that connects the electrical and mechanical sides. If this tab becomes worn it can cause problems. I found this earlier today:

At this point I'll assume it's the switch. It's probably the only "wear item" that hasn't been replaced.
