Sharkwoofer Re-design - bringing back bass and amplification for the 928
Over the past several years, I have occasionally received requests for Sharkwoofers, but recently the number of requests made it viable to take a look at re-designing the system once again.
After taking a look around at what is available, I plan on designing the enclosure around the venerable SB-Acoustics SW26DAC76-8 and the Alpine PDX sereies amplifiers (as they seem to retain the same footprint when they update the model line). The recommended model will be the PDX-V9, but any of the other PDX models will fit the enclosure.
So once again, it will be possible to have a completely stealth, drop-in, module that will provide a total of 5-channels of amplification and a high-quality bass driver.
I am able to source the SB-Acoustics drivers at a discount, so don't pay attention to the list prices online. I will be selling the unit assembled with the driver, and a customer will be responsible for providing their own amplifier.
Pricing is yet to be determined, but I should have the design finalized by the end of the week for quotation.
Renderings and 3D model will be available in the next 10 days.
I could use a PDX-V9 amplifier to make a Representative 3D model for the render (Dimensions are posted in the manual, but would need one in my hands to get something that looks closer to the complete amp). If anyone is planning on ordering a system, and wants to drop-ship me an amplifier, I will use it for the model, assemble the entire unit for them, and offer them a bit of a discount on the enclosure. Contact via PM if you are interested in sending an amp.
Thanks,
Hans

You want this.
We're extremely fortunate that we're getting a 2nd run...if you're even a maybe, start to pick up a 2nd job for a few months to pay for it, you'll want it.
I have a V1, and it's absolutely priceless....because I got da bass, and my car doesn't scream "break into me" with amps and subs in boxes visible.
And I still have back seats, and a complete trunk area to use.
The only thing I lost was a spare that wont inflate anymore.

I concur! I felt extremely lucky to get in on that final run of 4 (I think) which ended up breaking the original mold. It's fantastic (for you all ) that there will be another run.

So glad you're doing another run! I got my car after your first run ended. Are you considering selling the enclosures without drivers as well? Thanks for all the hard work you put into all of your tasteful upgrades

The SB-Acoustic is the best driver to fill that gap at this point in time.
I tried running the Dayton 10" drivers for a while, and they are now out of production. I ran the Earthquake drivers for a bit, and they worked well enough, but they are only a few dollars cheaper, and the the SB-A will fit a lot better, and its honestly built much nicer. For a while, the SB-A driver got pricey because of the neo magnets and import duty.... it is finally available again at a realistic price.
So, while it is a replacement for the original design, and it will have various improvements in fit and design from what I have learned over the years, if you have one of the original V1 with the SI-BM-MKIII consider yourself lucky!
Looking forward to getting these available again. I didn't even save any for my cars from the first series.
Thanks
Hans
