Window Switches Get Stuck
Hi friends. I just replaced one of my window switches as the old one changed from window adjuster to interior smoke screen.
All buttons function correctly, however they tend to stick to the sides of the console vinyl surrounding it, which I suspect has shrunk over time.
Has anyone dealt with this before and how did you fix it?

See the link below.
Can easily lift switch out with only a screwdriver, and the pop the rocker panel off. If need be you can sand down the the side of the rocker panel - no one will see it. Actually when reseating the switch you may have a little play to just move it over a bit. I would see if that'll work before sanding.

Hi,
Just sorted the same problem today, drivers switch started sticking down on Tuesday, presumed it was the switch but when I removed the switch and tested it worked fine, nice clicking action. I refitted the switch I had the same problem, it was then I could what was happening, the vinyl has shrunk in the corners and switch was jamming,
I just rounded off the back and corner of the switch top and it now works fine, I also trimmed the vinyl where it was curling up. The passenger side switch works ok but is very close to the vinyl so that will need the treatment soon.
All the vinyl in my car is a mess, southern sun god bless it.

Thanks for the suggestions, guys! Will work on that once I can. That fix will probably save the lives of my window motors as well.
I almost want to reinstall the the old window switch so I could take a pic of the "push and smoke" function.

Try trimming the edges of the switch tops so the lip that fold over at the edge, becomes shorter. The switch will look the same when installed and will have more clearance from underneath when pressed.

Nice to know I wasn't the Lone Ranger in this department. While changing my switches...my head nearly exploded...fighting with this issue.
Trimmed the lower edge of the "new switch" and everything was in working order.
Brian.
