Well, that didn't turn out as expected. They found some issue with me that needs further investigation, so the surgery is put off until next Monday. I'm back home and can get a few more things done before I have to drive back. Thanks again for all the well wishes. I'll take them all now with a "rain check."

This should be really interesting. Any interest in making it with a splitter for downforce at the nose?

Hi rrryre, Welcome to the Shark Tank. Your's is the third suggestion about making a splitter for the 928 front spoiler. I posted my response to the first two above. What further thoughts do you have about it that one might consider?

You can continue to participate here as a "user" --many do. But I think you will find it a more valuable experience if you become a "member."

P.S. It will be interesting for you to start a thread with your introduction and with more information about you and your 928 interest. Do you have a 928? Tell us about it in your intro thread.

Jerry's photos are embedded in his posts. If you're not seeing them, there are a number of possible explanations. First, the photos may take some time to load (depending on the speed of your internet connection). Sometimes your browser simply gives up and displays everything but the photo. Reloading the page often fixes this problem. Second, your browser or your internet service provider may have a security setting that, in some contexts, prevents downloading photos. (Nefarious people have been known to hide malicious code within photos and other downloadable content. This may help the malicious code avoid detection by anti-virus programs.) If you're not comfortable playing with your security settings, you might have better luck with a different browser.

That is a nice thought. Although it looks like I will be at the North Suburban Medical Center at about 91st and Grant, in Thornton, and my surgery is now scheduled for 10:30 Monday Morning, I think the only thing that will keep me there for long enough to party will be pain, and with that I don't think I will be up to much party. Its the thought that counts and your's counts a lot. Thanks.

Well, my surgery is postponed again or maybe cancelled; at least until they have a cardiologist look at some tests they put me through and then clears me for surgery, if he will. I'll be seeing one of those next Friday; so now I am back to getting some things done on my projects.

I had formed some thin wedge-like material to make the front corners of the center section a little wider and have glued them on with epoxy. After that sets overnight I think I'll look at the other piece of plywood for the body of the center section and do that over. Then I'll be able to try to match the ends to the center section and start giving the center its final shape. That is always the fun part, even though it raises a real cloud of sanding dust.

I am thinking that a good idea is going to be to try to put one of my front bumper covers upside down on some sort of work stand so that I can do some closer fitting of these modular components to it and to each other. I hate going to all this trouble guestimating about how they are going to fit, even with some pretty careful measurements.

Dang Jerry, I'm late to this party! Had a L3-L4 diskectomy in 1990 (surgeon said 3 more weeks and the paralysis I was starting to experience would be permanent) and it was a complete fix! PT afterwards was the answer- find a PT person who understands the deal - mine had actually watched such surgeries before so she would understand WTF. IOW, look forward to a good outcome! And do the PT! I'm confident your other issues will resolve, and concerns about them reflect a very thorough approach on the part of your surgeon. If he/she is anything like you, you have absolutely nothing to worry about.

All the best, and I am looking forward to not just your speedy recovery, but an improvement in life for you- that's what can happen when bad backs get fixed!

Thanks, Martin, for your thoughts, concerns and suggestions, especially about the physical therapy. I have asked about that a couple of times and the response has been kind of vague. I am looking at a fusion of L4, L5 and S1. I have a long term deformity of L5 that has finally slipped enough to start pinching the nerves. I'l look further into the PT when the time finally comes.

I got a bit more done on the center section today plus some rasping on the epoxy finish to one of the end pieces.

I changed the plywood on the center section and the design of it a bit, then I used my disc sander and did some basic shaping to the center. I have the center glued together now and waiting for the epoxy to cure, then I'll coat the outer surface and begin some final finish there.

You will notice that the front of the center remains flat. When I shape things in wood and to compound curves I find it best to finish then first in flats because you can keep the flats much more true than rounded surfaces. When I get very near the end and am sure of the flats, then I'll carefully do the rounding that this will end up with on the front edge.

In a couple of the pictures I have placed one of the end pieces in close proximity the one end of the center section so you can get an idea of how these will relate when I am done with this.
