I know I was starting out with pretty rough parts on this one. But ugh.

A: The rear mid portion of the intake has some nasty casting marks, at least I think it is, unless its from corrosion.

B: I will need to take back the water bridge and thermostat housings as they coated the sealing surfaces. Doh!

C: The cam covers look so so. Is this all from the casting or both nasty casting and off-gassing?

Anyways I did not expect this stuff to come out perfect. This car has the most aluminum corrosion I have ever seen. 10 years in a wet garage with a natural stone wall.

There is much clean up to do, more than on my last batch from these guys.

I will have the water-bridge and thermostat housing blasted and coated again, there is no way I can fix those. So they will need to re-do.

Sorry to hear of this trouble. I wish I'd taken a closer look at them in your garage when I was there. I don't think I can judge the nature of the pitting at this point - there are many possibilities, but corrosion is certainly most likely, perhaps exacerbated by casting shrinkage porosity.

My powder coater repaired some corrosion on my water spout with some sort of J-B Weld. He's local to me; everyone agrees he does a good job. Powder Works in Johnsburg, NY. 518-251-3974 (his website is wonky). I'd be happy to supervise if anyone wishes to use him.

The back of the intake might be covered by the filter enough that it won't matter. The valve covers are mostly covered by the intake tubes so they might be OK. Explain all this to the owner and he might be OK with it. The other option is replacement parts and re coating them.

The bubble imperfections will show if the magnesium parts are not "out gassed". I was told by my powder coater that I use it's a must do process for magnesium. I don't know how true this is, since i'm not an expert in this area but it seemed logical the way he explained it.

He is good I had warned him of this. The parts were rough.

Got the parts back from Fireball. They turned out great and $200 cheaper than the first place!

Adams had the holes. Don't know what they are doing to fix those but his coated calipers looked great from what I saw

They look great. How will you do the lettering? I had my lettering powder coated also. I like it better than the stick on lettering kits.

I think I will leave the lettering as is. I just want to be done with this intake refresh already!

Yes the callipers turned on very well. Mark is re-doing the items that were not masked well.

I left my lettering plain out of personal preference. So, I approve!

Enjoy the re-assembly process. Do it once, very deliberately.

Here are pics of the callipers that fireball did. Still some clean up to do.

John, glad it worked out for you.

Those calipers look good.
They were quite appreciative that I gave them the "powdercoating manual" when I dropped off my stuff
