Keep this thread to the battery issue, (otherwise you risk the wrath of the thread OP for hijacking his thread, our fault for asking you the questions).
Thank you! I'm getting a detail on Thursday. I'll try to take more pictures after that. Should I cut out my intro above? I definitely didn't intend to detract from the original topic or irritate anyone. Let me know? Thanks again!

Considering that Heinrich hasn't been on since last fall, I doubt he will be too irritated.

However, this particular forum seems to prefer new threads on stuff. I know of other places that prefer "thread necromancy", where an older thread is resurrected with new questions. But that's not how it seems to be here.

Start a new thread. Say "Hi, this is my car." INCLUDE PICTURES, or suffer the wrath of the 'usual suspects'.

Yes this is what's called a thread hijack, but the only irritated ones here would be those poor souls looking for help with a draining battery and finding .... other stuff

Post away ... no problem here.

Thanks, guys. I'll learn my way around. I was on topic with the battery drain issue, initially. I'll move my intro to a new thread with more pictures ASAP, and will update this one about the battery drain if I determine the cause.

This video was super easy to follow. Doing so, I was able to confirm that I no longer have the battery drain issue. The thing is, I can't determine why it stopped because I tried several thing without being very methodical along the way.

Ironically, one theory is that it may have been fixed by another problem. My hatch leaks when I was the car and I noticed that the hatch light looks a bit rusted and/or burnt out and no longer works. I'm actually wondering if that light could have been the draw, but now that it's broken, it's not drawing power?

I don't know... but I am happy that it's not a problem for the time being.

An aging thread, but I would add to it.
My current ownership activity is like quite a few others I’m sure. I’m preparing my 86.5’ to sell. That may not happen for another year. The transmission is replaced, drive shaft rebuilt, AC refresh almost complete, interior refresh under way…
And all this time, in between occasional drives, the expensive year-old battery sits in its cavity, slowly discharging.
I measured the current flow with the interior light fuse extracted and hatch open and found 54mA draw. I opened the hood as well and current went up to 90mA. It also might incrementally go up with a door open.
So Popular Mechanics suggested a “charge maintainer” be employed in situations like this. So, I purchased this little tool. It’s not a power-up quick charger, but just what it says.

if your not driving the car for periods longer than 2 weeks,
I would suggest to disconnect the battery.
Charge the battery every 3 months if its been disconnected./
