Had a surprise car show up for an oil change and inspection.
After opening the hood it was apparent an oil change was the least of the issues.
This machine is turning into a intensive refresh complete with pictures.
Ahh the car. Its a stunning 1982 Porsche 928 Weissach with a 5 speed.
The paint is near perfect, the interior is stunning, it has a brand new clutch pack for the 5 speed and the topper it came with a full set of luggage that is still packed in its shipping wrappers.
The owner is a local to the shop.
So its getting cleaned up and new fluids and timing belt and water pump and new tires a tune up so it will be ready for the road

Nice looking car.
Question...that pod right in front of the washer filler neck, what is it hooked up to? Looks like it is hooked to something below the manifold tubing.
I have one on my 78, but no one else I've ran across has one (78). Mine is tee'd into the evaporator hose going to the air cleaner housing, and the hose coming off the pod goes beneath the car and is open to the atmosphere...which really makes no sense to me.
Thanks, for any info.
Brian.

Is that part of the charcoal canister system?

The 81 seems to have a different hose routing than mine (78). 78's have three ports on the charcoal canister...so there is no tee splitting off for the tank line. Weird.
Anyhow, I'll keep investigating.
Brian.

I must confess. The mystery owner of weissach #155 is me. Just had it delivered 2 weeks ago from Seattle and I drove it to Stan almost immediately to have it "taken care of". I have always wanted a weissach even before starting my 928 ownership with my white s4 last year, but the Miami weissach available last year was lost to cyberspace (sure glad I didn't buy it since it had salvage title, torn up door panels by aftermarket speakers, and luggage-free). However, I happened to surf the autotrader website 6weeks ago for the first time in a longtime and found this weissachs ad with, "never used luggage", within the body of the ad. Told my wife I HAVE TO HAVE this weissach, since it is my Moby Dick. Called the guy on Friday night at 11pm eastern time and made arrangement to have funds sent electronically in Tuesday morning (Presidents weekend).
Found out that the owner bought it new in Illinois, and he is a retired 89yo orthopedic surgeon living in Seattle and had to have his daughters help him upload pics onto the web. He faxed me the title but was not able to send me pics of the luggage. Needless to say, I was somewhat nervous when the car arrived, and the first place I checked was beneath the original trunk cover to see if the luggage was indeed included with the car. Mind you, the condition of the car alone was worth more than what I already had paid, and the luggage condition was amazing to say the least.
He was honest when he says he's never used them, because the wrapping paper used to keep luggage bulky is still inside each of the luggage bags, and there is not one minuscule scratch to any of the brass bottom studs on the luggage. Engine looks clean, and recipes have shows relatively new bilstein shocks and new clutch.
I feel that this car is a keeper for me, so I decided to take it to Stan for a thorough go-over so that it will be maintained well as a collectible in the truest sense of the word.

Wait a minute -
You've had this thing for two whole weeks!?!?!?
And you didn't say anything?
Sheesh.
Congrats on the acquisition. It's a beautiful car.
